Acer strengthens its relationship with the Maranello Team by becoming Sponsor of Scuderia Ferrari

TAIPEI, TAIWAN (20 January, 2006) -- Acer, the world's fourth-largest brand within the information technology market, announces an agreement that strengthens its partnership with the Maranello Team by becoming Sponsor of Scuderia Ferrari.

Acer constantly devotes both time and energy to the world of sport; a world in which the pursuit of perfection is the result of teamwork, complete dedication, flexibility and determination while at the same time encouraging the spirit of the individual.

"The strategy and objectives of Acer are in perfect unity with those of Scuderia Ferrari: the dedication to objectives, the pursuit of success and the spirit of competition are all qualities we both share," commented Gianfranco Lanci, President, Acer Inc. "We have therefore chosen to renew and strengthen our partnership with Scuderia Ferrari, safe in the knowledge that the greater visibility of the brand will in turn help strengthen Acer's overall leadership."

The partnership between Acer and Scuderia Ferrari dates back to February 2003 when, following the signing of an agreement, Acer became "Official Supplier". The Maranello Team and Acer both share a similar passion for new challenges and the pursuit of excellence within their respective market sectors.

"Cutting edge innovation and technology" confirmed Jean Todt, Team Principal of Scuderia Ferrari, "have always characterized the worlds of Formula One and information technology. For this reason we are delighted to reconfirm Acer as one of our prestigious sponsors and to strengthen a proven and successful collaboration."

Acer, founded in 1976, was established in Taiwan as a manufacturer of high quality and technologically advanced IT products. Throughout the years, a number of factors including the acquisition of the notebook division of Texas Instruments; the decision to separate production activities in order to fully focus resources on sales and marketing; and the constant commitment to the research and development of solutions that make technology immediate and simple to use; have allowed Acer to leave its mark on the history of information technology.

Furthermore, Acer has also made important contributions in the field of pioneering research, study and innovation, while remaining dedicated to its long-term goal of breaking the barriers between people and technology.

The story of Formula One is closely tied to the history of Ferrari. Indeed, the "Testa Rossa" is the only single-seater to have taken part in every Formula One world championships held to date: a lengthy and highly-prestigious career studded with the successes and achievements that go towards creating its legendary status.
