Acer reports April revenue at NT$21.3B (US$667.44M) -- up 11.9% year-on-year

TAIPEI, TAIWAN (9 May, 2006) -- Acer announces the April consolidated revenue at NT$21.3B (US$667.44M), rising 11.9% from NT$19.03B (US$596.40M) a year earlier. The moderate growth rate is a reflection of the global PC industry's slow season.

The January to April 2006 accumulated revenue reached NT$104.35B (US$3.27B), demonstrating a rise of 23.1% from the previous year's NT$84.74B (US$2.66B), and reached 26.1% of the full year revenue target of NT$400B (US$12.42B).

Several factors have made April an unusual month for the global PC industry. Seasonal holidays, international currency fluctuation and other economic changes around the world have influenced the industry and made the slow season more apparent. However for May and June, Acer has several aggressive business plans in place, and is confident that revenue for the second quarter will be close to the first quarter.

In terms of Acer's IT product business, the April consolidated revenue grew by 14.8% on-year, while the January to April accumulated revenue rose by 30.9% on-year.
