Acer InviLinkT NplifyT delivers accelerated wireless technology to the Ferrari 1000 notebook

For robust Wi-Fi® mobile communication

TAIPEI, TAIWAN (17 July, 2006) -- Acer Inc. announces the introduction of the InviLink™ Nplify™ accelerated mobile wireless technology, that supports advanced multiple radios, delivers superior performance and reliable connections while enabling emerging voice, video and data applications. The Ferrari 1000, inspired by the exhilarating passion of Formula One high-performance and built for blazing speed, is aptly chosen as the first notebook from Acer to incorporate the latest wireless innovation.

Acer InviLink™ Nplify™ wireless technology is designed to empower hardcore travelers to efficiently send or receive multiple large content files within Wi-Fi® environments. It uses MIMO (Multiple Input, Multiple Output) wireless transactions that enable multi-stream input or output, for faster and more reliable bandwidth, compared to the single input/output model of the current 802.11 a/b/g wireless protocols.

Acer InviLink™ Nplify™ fully supports Acer SignalUp™ wireless technology and is compatible with 802.11a/b/g standards for reliable and secure wireless connectivity. Its maximum data rate of 300 Mbps is up to six times faster than the rate of today's 802.11a/b/g networks[1], and supports Wi-Fi® networks for emerging voice, MP3, heavy HD video, large data applications and more. Whether you are at home or in the office, Acer InviLink™ Nplify™ combines the best of wireless and wired technologies: the mobile convenience of wireless technology with efficient throughput of a wired network, improving the total mobile user experience.

Ferrari 1000
Sporting a fresh 12.1" widescreen form factor compact enough to fit into any briefcase, the innovative and ultra-mobile Ferrari 1000 barely registers at a mere 1.6 kg. It is based on the latest AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology featuring two independent 64-bit processing cores, further advancing the groundbreaking mobile PC technology. The system configuration is designed to be Microsoft® Windows Vista™[2] Capable and Windows Vista™ Premium Ready, and prepared for the upcoming premium editions of the Microsoft® Windows® Vista™ operating system.

The notebook's rousing style comes straight from the iconic Ferrari look, featuring: a unique metal touchpad; luminescent dashboard lights and application buttons that put you directly in the driver's seat; a space-age carbon-fiber cover for superior rigidity, lightness and reliability; and a unique weave pattern that brings the racing checkered flag to mind. The interior of the Ferrari 1000 is adorned with Acer's matte black soft-touch covering, promising ergonomic comfort with silky, velvet looks; soft-touch coating also graces the Ferrari Bluetooth® mouse, Bluetooth® VoIP phone and external SuperMulti double-layer drive, unifying the feel of the keyboard and mouse.

The Ferrari 1000 will be available during Q3 2006, please check with Acer's local office or dealer for the actual date of availability and product specification in each country. Contact details may be found on www.acer.com.

[1] Actual throughput may vary depending on network conditions and environmental factors such as network traffic or overhead, building construction and access point settings.
[2] Not all Windows Vista features are available for use on all Windows Vista Capable PCs. All Windows Vista Capable PCs will run the core experiences of Windows Vista, such as innovations in organizing and finding information, security, and reliability. Some features available in premium editions of Windows Vista -- like the new Windows Aero™ user interface - require advanced or additional hardware. Check www.windowsvista.com/getready for details.
