Acer Inc. 1H 2006 financial results: PAT NT$7.1B (US$219.24M), EPS NT$3.09, operating income NT$3.44B (US$106.18M)


TAIPEI, TAIWAN (30 August, 2006) -- Acer reports the financial results for the first half of 2006, following approval from the Board of Directors today. The operating income was NT$3.44B (US$106.18M), exceeding the result from the first half of 2005 if comparing on the same bases, by disregarding the income of NT$490M (US$15.12M) from land property sale in Q1 2005.

Profit after tax (PAT) was NT$7.1B (US$219.24M), up from NT$4.41B (US$136.12M) on year; earning per share (EPS) was NT$3.09, up from NT$1.92 on year; and consolidated revenue reached NT$155.85B (US$4.81B), rising 18.6% from last year's NT$131.39B (US$4.06B).

For Q2 2006, Acer's consolidated revenue reached NT$72.86B (US$2.25B), growing 10.9% from last year's NT$65.68B (US$2.03B). Operating income was NT$1.52B (US$46.79M), slightly behind last year's NT$1.66B (US$51.21M) and reflecting the aggressive PC price war and worldwide notebook market slowdown. Finally, the PAT was NT$3.08B (US$95.01M), compared to last year's NT$2.27B (US$69.91M).

Acer's 2006 financial forecasts are NT$400B (US$12.42B) in consolidated revenue and NT$10B (US$311.12M) in PAT. The first half results have hit 39%, and 71% of respective targets.
