Acer's new Veriton desktop PC's innovative design

Global Press Conference -- Budapest, 19 September, 2008 -- Acer, the third largest vendor in the global PC market (source: Gartner data, 1H 2008), today presented the latest edition of its award-winning Veriton range. Designed focusing on business needs, the new Veriton M, S and L series presents an innovative casing and a totally new interior design.

The ground-breaking Veriton desktop PC range represents an effective application of Acer's deep awareness of evolving market requirements and its broad technological expertise to provide a desktop solution that does away with redundant components to bring superior efficiency and enhanced manageability to the modern business environment.

Completely re-designed, the new Veriton range comes in various configurations, as well as dimensions, to cover the specific needs and demands of multiple segments within the commercial market: Micro-tower, Small Form Factor and Ultra Small Form Factor.

Innovative case design
Starting from the innovative case design, the new line of Veriton desktops offer a wealth of new features and technologies, aimed at improving manageability and functionality. The new case design, simple and strong at the same time, showcases the Veriton PC's solidity, high performance and reliability, conveying an efficient and professional feel. On the front, the new Veriton M and S series feature a new grill design to enhance ventilation, while ODDs and card readers are uncovered for easy access and updates. The tool-less design of the cases simplifies access to hardware and internal components and eases any maintenance operation.

Modular interior layout
But the new Veriton is more than mere looks. Acer engineers completely remade the interior design to make it more efficient and allow more intuitive system diagnosis thanks to the overall neater appearance. The modular component cage design for HDD, ODD and FDD makes component upgrade simple and hassle free. Users will no longer need to struggle with a complicated interior desktop layout: in case of failure, components can be easily identified and replaced. In addition, better cable management, with cables hidden under the motherboard, is a critical improvement that makes the system more stable and reliable, thus reducing the need of assistance.

Environmentally friendly
As far as computers are concerned, green is not the latest trend but an added value. It means energy conservation without sacrificing performance. Running more energy-efficient systems helps the environment while cutting costs.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, last year alone, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR®, saved enough energy to power 10 million homes and avoid greenhouse gas emissions from 12 million cars - all the while saving $6 billion. Choosing a green PC is indeed a smart step for companies. According to Gartner, companies being green can actually save money and reduce IT budget.

Acer Veriton desktop PCs are built with many power-saving functions. They meet ENERGY STAR® requirements and are EPEAT registered.

Veriton ControlCenter
Acer has equipped the new Veriton range with Veriton ControlCenter, a suite of utilities designed to simplify the work environment.

  • Acer QuickMigration enables quick transfer of personal data and folders, through a fast, 5-steps setup.
  • Acer PowerSaver allows the user to define a power usage profile: low power for energy saving and normal use, and high power for greater performance.
  • Acer SyncSmart is the desktop home of all your mobile devices. It enables browsing, sending and receiving of files between devices and seamless synchronisation of a large variety of devices.
  • Acer SmartBoot automatically loads frequently used programs to the system tray when the computer is turned on.
  • Veriton HelpDesk organizes the entire Veriton manual and other useful information on the desktop for easy click-and-search functionality.

 Robust IT manageability
The new Veriton range integrates Intel® vPro™ technology that takes advantage of hardware assisted security and manageability features to enhance maintenance, management and protection capabilities. This technology enables remote diagnostics and repair even when the PC is powered down or the OS is inoperable, thus reducing desk-side visits for software and hardware problems by up to 56%. In addition, it integrates a functionality that allows the user to conduct hardware and software inventories remotely - up to 94% faster than manually.
