Acer's new professional desktop range: Veriton M670(G), S670(G) and L670(G)

Improved network management and security, in an innovative design

Global Press Conference -- Budapest, 19 September 2008 -- Acer, the third largest vendor in the global PC market (source: Gartner data, 1H 2008), today presented the latest edition of its award-winning Veriton range. Designed around real business needs, the new Veriton M670(G), S670(G), and L670(G), series come with an innovative casing and a revolutionary interior design.

As small and medium businesses come in different shapes and sizes, their requirements can vary considerably. Acer's new Veriton PCs come in various configurations, as well as dimensions, to cover the specific needs and demands of multiple segments within the commercial market: Micro-tower, Small Form Factor and Ultra Small Form Factor.

Innovative casing and revolutionary interior design
The new casing design conveys a simple, efficient and highly professional feel. A large mesh cover emphasised by solid bars has been placed on the front of the new Veriton M670 and S670 for enhanced ventilation and improved thermal throughput, while ODDs and card readers are exposed for easy access and updates. The tool-less design of the cases simplifies access to hardware and internal components and eases any maintenance operation.

The most striking innovation lies within the casing. An entirely modular component cage design for HDD, ODD and FDD simplifies and speeds up component replacements/upgrades as it offers a neater internal layout and makes identifying components a straightforward process. Simplified cable-management, with cables hidden under the motherboard, is a critical improvement that makes the system more stable and reliable, thus reducing the need for assistance.

Environmentally friendly
In the computer world, being green means conserving energy without sacrificing performance. Running more energy-efficient systems helps the environment while cutting costs. Acer Veriton PCs are designed and built for a green life. Starting from the outside, the Veriton packaging uses a simple mono-colour design, 90% of which is made from recycled materials. The new Veriton PCs are made of PVC-free materials and low-power, high-performance components that take advantage of the latest power saving technologies. Smart utilities and software accompany these PCs to reduce power consumption and spare resources. All Acer Veriton desktop PCs labelled ¡¥G' meet a variety of international standards for low energy consumption such as ENERGY STAR® 4.0, EPEAT™ Silver, RoHS and Green Seal.

Veriton ControlCenter
The new Veriton PCs are equipped with Veriton ControlCenter, a suite of utilities designed to simplify the work environment, placing crucial functions and handy utilities in a single, fast-access panel. Veriton ControlCenter includes Acer QuickMigration, Acer PowerSaver, Acer SynchSmart, Acer SmartBoot, and Veriton HelpDesk that enables seamless management of data, power, and frequently uses programs to help users save time and energy and simplify routine tasks.

Remote manageability
The new Veriton range integrates Intel® vPro™ technology that takes advantage of hardware assisted security and manageability features to allow maintenance, management and protection capabilities. This technology enables remote diagnostics and repair even when the PC is powered down or the OS is inoperable, thus reducing desk-side visits for software and hardware problems by up to 56%. In addition, vPro™ technology integrates a function that allows users to create hardware and software inventories remotely and up to 94% faster than manual checks.

Enhanced security
Acer Veriton computers come with a rear-mounted area for both Kensington and padlocks to ensure equipment safety at all times. To ensure total data security, the Veriton includes Acer Security Suite that utilizes TPM-base data encryption to protect system files, password and other vital information. Furthermore, the integrated Intel® vPro™ technology maximizes corporate security through hardware based scanning for viruses and other malware. It also helps to automatically deploy security updates across the network.

Veriton PCs have also been provided with convenient ways to protect and recover your information. A one-button recovery solution, placed on the front of the PCs, enables a hard disk recovery to a user set status, so that data can be recovered in case of malware infection. Alternatively, Acer's PCGuard offers a hardware based, quick recovery to reset an entire system in less than 10 sec.

Veriton M670(G)
The Micro Tower M670 has a large mesh area on the front of the casing to ensure better ventilation and improve thermals thus aiding energy conservation. The Intel® vPro™ technology integrated with the Intel® Core™2 Quad processor provides enhanced security and better remote management. All multitasking and computing needs are easily handled by up to 8 GB of ultra-fast DDR3 memory and PCI-Express® 2.0 that double speed, communication and graphics bandwidth for optimised PC performance. A serial ATA HD, with up to 1TB of capacity, offers ample storage space and a marked improvement in data access and retrieval speeds. Support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 enhances data integrity and improves throughput.

Veriton S670(G)
The S670 is a Small Form Factor computer that brings the desktop back to the desk. Running on the Intel® Core™2 Quad processor with Intel® vPro™ technology, the S670 features accelerated processing of multi-threaded applications with improved system manageability. Up to 8 GB of ultra-fast DDR3 memory and PCI Express® 2.0 boost the computer performance to allow the fastest multitasking. Ample storage space is ensured by up to a 1TB serial ATA HD, while RAID 0, 1 increases data integrity and throughput.

Veriton L670 G
Razor sharp and no-nonsense, the L670G is an Ultra Small Form Factor PC that does away with all surpluses even in the internal layout. A revolutionary motherboard design places components on both sides of the board, minimizing cable use, improving heat flow and saving space. Notwithstanding the minimalistic size, the L670G is fully accessorized with powerful features. Driven by Intel® Core™2 Quad processor with Intel® vPro™ technology, it comes with up to 4 GB of DDR2 memory, a serial ATA hard disk with up to 1TB of space and Intel® GMA4500 graphics solution to smoothly handle any computing requirements.

The Veriton series comes pre-installed with Genuine Windows Vista® Business 32-/64-bit, Genuine Windows® XP Professional (Downgrade kit) or Linux® console/X-Windows version. Additional pre-installed software includes Intel® Active Management Technology 5.0 (Intel® AMT 5.0); Acer Empowering Technology (Acer eDataSecurity, eLock, eRecovery, eSettings Management); Veriton ControlCenter (QuickMigration, PowerSaver, SmartBoot, HelpDesk); Acer Inventory Manager powered by LANDesk®; Microsoft® Office 2007 (Ready/Trial) Service Pack 1; McAfee® Internet Security Suite 2008 (60-day trial); Intel® Matrix Storage Manager 8.5; Wave® EMBASSY® Trust Suite; Adobe® Reader®; CyberLink® PowerDVD®; NTI Media Maker™.
