Global Press Conference -- Budapest, 19 September 2008 -- Acer, the third largest vendor in the global PC market (source: Gartner data, 1H 2008), today presented the Acer ezDock II/II+ docking solutions and Acer EasyPort IV port replicator, designed to add expandability to Acer TravelMate notebooks.
Acer ezDock II and ezDock II+
Acer ezDock II and ezDock II+ are the best way to add desktop-level expandability to your corporation's Acer TravelMate notebook. Designed for maximum compatibility and reliability, Acer ezDock II and ezDock II+ offer optimum flexibility for modern and legacy connections. Thanks to the smart one-size-fits-all design, the Acer ezDock II/II+ support a wide range of TravelMate sizes and models. Both docking solutions feature the latest high speed interfaces as well as maintaining support for legacy ports and devices.
The six USB 2.0 and two IEEE 1349 ports can be used along with those on the notebook, allowing Acer ezDock II/II+ to give maximum functionality and an incredible number of connection options. Both docking solutions come with an innovative plug-n-play functionality that instantly connects to multiple devices in one simple operation, as well as permitting to add or remove devices without having to reboot the notebook.
With ezDock solutions, cables are routed correctly and securely at the workstation, so that the working space is efficient and clutter-free as cables and devices are kept neat and untangled. Maximum support and expansion is granted by 22 jacks, ports and slots with a wide range of interface types including networking, audio, video and data for best-of-class versatility. Plus, Acer ezDock II+ is equipped with an integrated Universal ExpressCard™ and Acer MediaBay slots, for additional optical drive, 6-cell battery or Serial ATA hard disk drive module, to deliver future-proof upgradeability.
Featuring a Kensington lock slot with integrated anti-eject mechanism, Acer ezDock II and ezDock II+ secure both the dock and connected notebook, all with just a single lock thoroughly securing the notebook.
Acer EasyPort IV
Slim and portable, Acer EasyPort IV port replicator can be easily carried anywhere, allowing seamless connection of multiple devices to your notebook even on the go. Designed for maximum compatibility and flexibility, the Acer EasyPort IV works well in any direction and supports a large number of models. Four USB 2.0 ports, DVI-D, VGA, audio jacks and an Ethernet port ensure plentiful support and expansion. With Acer EasyPort IV multiple devices can operate simultaneously, saving time and increasing efficiency. Plus, there is no need to reboot the notebook when plugging or unplugging devices, thus enhancing productivity.
