Acer Inc. 1H 2009 financial results: consolidated revenue NT$238.2B (US$7.3B), operating income NT$5.6B (US$171M), PAT NT$4.4B (US$133M), EPS NT$1.66


TAIPEI, TAIWAN (August 27, 2009) – Acer Inc. announces its first half (1H) 2009 financial results, approved by the board of directors. Consolidated revenue was NT$238.2B (US$7.3B), down 6% year-on-year (YOY). Operating income reached NT$5.6B (US$171M), growing by 3% YOY. Profits after tax (PAT) reached NT$4.4B (US$133M) and earnings-per-share (EPS) was NT$1.66. There were no stock disposal gains during 1H 2009.

For Q2 2009 results, Acer's consolidated revenue was NT$119.1B (US$3.6B), down 5% YOY; operating income was NT$3.0B (US$93M), up 12% YOY; PAT was NT$2.3B (US$71M); and EPS was NT$0.88.

According to the Q2 2009 preliminary market data released by analyst firm Gartner, Inc., Acer ranks third in the total PC market with a growth of 34.2% YOY based on worldwide PC unit shipment, and recording 13.5% market share. The preliminary data also shows that Acer ranks No. 2 in the worldwide notebook PC market with 48.1% YOY growth and 20.1% market share.
