TAIPEI, TAIWAN (October 28, 2009) -- Acer CEO & President, Gianfranco Lanci, was presented with an Economic Medal by the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) today. Lanci was honored for his outstanding leadership of Acer’s multi-national management team, and for successfully building the Acer brand name worldwide. Acer’s achievement has given significant boost for Taiwan brands in the global markets, as well as enhanced Taiwan as an essential player in the IT industry. The MOEA saw Acer’s climb to prominence as a role model for companies worldwide. The Economic Medal was presented during a formal ceremony hosted by Vice Minister Jung-Chiou Hwang, and attended by Acer Chairman and Group CEO J.T. Wang, Acer Founder Stan Shih, and high-level executives of the MOEA. Wang and Shih praised Lanci’s contribution, and highlighted that the fundamental behind an international company was a truly global management team. According to the MOEA, Lanci’s self-driven motivation in promoting the Acer brand demonstrated his unique talent in managing a global IT firm. His close daily interaction with the Acer management team, who work based on mutual trust, has built a highly efficient global logistic and channel business model. Under Lanci’s management, neither nationality nor culture is a barrier. The sustainable team and business operations saw Acer gain speed to become one of the top-three PC players today. Lanci joined Acer in 1997 Managing Director of Acer Italy; in 2002 he became President of Acer EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa); in 2003 he was appointed President of Acer’s International Operations Business Group. Since 2005, Lanci has served as President of Acer Inc. and in June 2008 assumed dual responsibilities as the company CEO.
