Acer Inc. appoints Che-Min Tu as CFO
Incumbent CFO Howard Chan to serve as special assistant to Chairman

 

TAIPEI, TAIWAN (October 30, 2009) – Acer Inc. has appointed Che-Min Tu as chief financial officer (CFO), effective November 1, 2009, succeeding incumbent Acer Inc. CFO, Howard Chan. Chan will be handing over his responsibilities before the end of November.

With his new appointment, Tu will lead the Acer global finance team to develop and grow Acer Group’s business. At the same time, he will continue to serve as CFO of Acer EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa).

Tu joined Acer’s Taipei headquarters in 1998 as finance administrator. He was soon recognized as a high-potential talent and assigned to the company’s EMEA operations in 2001. Based in Europe, Tu became treasury director in charge of corporate finance functions, which at the time generated over US$1 billion in annual revenues, and gained essential cross-region and cross-country know-how. In 2006, Tu was promoted to the CFO of Acer EMEA, overseeing financial appropriations and company expenditures in the region. In 2008 he served concurrent to the position of EMEA CFO as special assistant to Acer CEO, Gianfranco Lanci. Tu’s outstanding contributions to the company saw his promotion to CFO of Acer Inc. at the age of 38.

Tu holds an MBA from the University of Manchester and MA in Public Economics from the University of Birmingham. He partook in an MBA Exchange Program at Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University. Tu was born in 1971 in Ping Tung, southern Taiwan.

From November 1, 2009 Chan will assume the position of special assistant to chairman, J.T. Wang. Acer thanks Chan for his leadership and for establishing a sound base for the Acer Group finance management.
