Environmental Communication
One of Acer's environmental management objectives is to develop an unobstructed channel for communication. Among the achievements in 2005 was the completion of such a channel, which includes establishing Acer's environmental homepage the global website and release of Acer's Corporate Environmental Report.
The company places equal emphasis on both internal and external communication. Internally, it organizes education programs and releases environmental news on a regular basis. For the general public, a designated office is responsible for handling related issues, publishing environmental reports and maintaining close contact with international environmental groups.
Internal Environmental Education and Information
Acer conducts and supports a variety of environmental education programs including participation in national and international seminars, and inviting professionals to train employees on topics such as Environmental Management System (EMS), international environmental issues and regulations such as the WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) and RoHS (Restriction of certain Hazardous Substances Directives) adopted in the EU.
In addition, Acer regularly circulates environmental information to broaden employees' awareness of the latest international environmental trends.
External Channel Communication
Providing free access to environmental information is fundamental to corporate social responsibility. We have created various channels, in addition to a designated office, for all stakeholders to access whenever there is an enquiry. Moreover, Acer keeps in regular contact with the government, research agencies and international environmental organizations with the goal of improving our professionalism in the field of environmental management.
